Intro

As stated in the Team Handbook, new and returning students have the oppurtunity to lower their travel costs by contributing hours to the buildseason.

For the achievements, new students must fulfil 50 hours, and returning students, 60.

Students are allowed ten (10) homework hours that contribute as buildseason hours. Click here to read about Homework hours.

Mentors are not required to fulfil any set amount of buildseason hours, but are encouraged to log their hours of volunteer time!

TIME COMMITMENT IS COMPLETELY UP TO YOU (allot as much buildseason time as you want!)

Students will be asked to leave if they are not being productive though.

Procedure

There is a certain process that students are responsible for in order to achieve their buildseason hours:

  • Students will have a Time Sheet designated for logging hours which is placed in a brown filing folder located in the small hallway closet.
  • As students actively participate in the buildseason and work productively during sessions, they write the amount of time spent working at the school. (Please note, these hours should be truthful!)
  • Before the student leaves for the night, one of their SUBTEAM MENTORS must sign off that the student was present x amount of hours, working productively in order to receive the hours. (Which means the mentor does not have to sign if they don't think you worked productively)
  • Once a student has achieved his or her number of buildseason hours, they are no longer required to log their hours for credit, but keeping track of buildseason hours helps us brag about how many hours we spend putting time and effort into our team and our robot as we continue to grow a bigger FIRST family!

The System

Leann is our designated mentor who weekly, updates the Student Achievement system with student logged buildseason hours. If you see that your buildseason hours have not been updated in the system at all after a week, be patient and give it a little more time as Leann is human too, and must get her own rest! If you believe that the hours listed under your achievements is incorrect, see Leann resolve!

Remember, if you have any questions about the Achievements, please refer to the Team Handbook before asking!
