Tennis Ball Launcher
Place for Progress Documentation
Group 1:
We started with brainstorming. Everyone drew two-three designs and then we discussed and voted on our top three. We then began prototyping those three launchers. Our first one is a simple catapult, launching vertically. Our second is a spring loaded cannon. And our third is a centripetal motivated sling shot. We began fabrication and will start CAD next week.
Group 2:
Max's Backhand:
We did some rough prototyping, and we're planning on doing a slingshot-esque design. We also decided on a team name (which is above), with our launcher, Match Point. We are going to do a custom carriage for the tennis ball to optimize release as well as holding. Combined with our tensioned surgical tubing, we think we will do quite well in the distance competition.
Group 4:
We made a design and started prototyping that design, while making changes as needed. We decided to use therapy bands as the slingshot. We also worked on some marketing strategies such as PowerPoints, animations, visualizations, and a mascot.
