2011:Lessons Learned

On this page please log lessons that you learned as you go along in build season.  The purpose of this is so that we can document these lessons now while they are fresh in our mind instead of trying to recall them later on after build season.  Ultimately this will help us improve for next years build season.

Mechanical:

• Need to determine new method of naming drawings so that it is easier to find the drawing you are looking for and to determine what group owns the drawing.  That way when we order parts Amy knows what group to contact to get more information on a drawing.
• Need to implement some sort of revision control on drawings.
• Robot main should be made up of sub assemblies that are create by each mechanical subteam.  That way they can independently update their portion of the robot and update the robot main drawing with their changes instead of working out of the robot main.
• Need to post methods on how to name drawings and get drawings generated on the wall in the shop for easy reference in addition to the wiki.
• Need to try to identify long lead items like Banebots parts earlier so that we can get them on order as soon as possible.

Electrical:

• Order motors et cet era on time (lest one finish the robot too late)
